Who’s behind Meadowcrafters?

Hi I’m Stephanie! The plant and nature enthusiast behind Meadowcarfters LLC.

After years in the Conservation Horticulture and Fine-Estate Gardening industries, I’ve chosen to take my skills directly to my local community and open Meadowcrafters to bring conservation-focused land management to home gardens.

I specialize in hummingbird gardens, ecological restoration, Japanese-style gardens, aquatic/wetland gardens, and fine-estate gardening.

I am passionate about providing the best garden care with low-toxicity products that improve the safety of our communities and utilizing plants that support our North American pollinators and wildlife.

What  lead me to Gardening?

I started my career in the Southeastern U.S. working as a botanist for an avian conservation organization after college. I cultivated gardens and restored wild lands with a focus on supporting hummingbirds, various songbirds, and waterfowl.

I went on to join my spouse on a 3.5 year USAF assignment to Japan, where I gardened and learned many Japanese gardening methods. Seeing how the Japanese horticulture community took pride in their rich history of utilizing their unique native plants in traditional and formal garden settings sparked a renewed interests in curating traditional-style gardens back home with our own North American native plants.

In the standard U.S. landscaping industry, we often act as if “traditional/formal” styles and “native/ecologically-friendly” styles exist as opposites. Knowing this to be inaccurate, I seek to curate traditional gardens with gorgeous form and aesthetically pleasing structure that also happen to hosts a wide range of butterflies, hummingbirds, fireflies, and wildlife for all to enjoy.
